Hello everyone! Today we discussed how the U.S. began to move away from neutrality in the beginning of WWII. We also began to look at examples of isolationist and interventionist views in the beginning of the conflict. For homework, you are to finish the worksheet that we began in class (i.e., analyzing the Dr. Seuss political cartoons). Furthermore, you are to create your own political cartoon based upon the view of an isolationist or an interventionist from the time period. Please email me with any questions that you may have.

Hello everyone. Today we analyzed primary sources in order to understand the impact of the Treaty of Versailles and the Great Depression on the rise of the Nazi Party within Germany. We also analyzed Adolf Hitler's use of public speaking techniques in order to gain the support of German citizens.

Hello everyone! Today we discussed the impact of escapism on Americans during the Great Depression. We analyzed the impact of radio and theatrical shows on Americans suffering during the economic crisis. We also discussed Federal One, a program through the Works Progress Administration (WPA), and how it helped unemployed artists, writers, musicians, actors, and dancers find jobs during the time. We specifically looked at the National Theatre Project as an example.

The second half of class we discussed President Franklin D. Roosevelt's ability to gain confidence in his New Deal programs by his usage of the radio. We listened to FDR's first Fireside Chat and analyzed it.
