1920s Culture Project

Hey everyone! Today we discussed the presidencies of Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge and debated the question whether the United States was truly isolationist during the 1920s.

We then began our project on 1920s culture. As stated in class, we will be working in the computer lab on Friday and next Tuesday to finish the project, and the presentations will be on Thursday, February 2. Please make sure you read how I will be assessing the presentations. Also, make sure you are working on the presentations in class. If you are not working on your presentation, I will give you alternative work. If the class is finished before the end of the period on Tuesday, we will begin the presentations on Tuesday.

Your homework for the next few days is to continue researching your group's topic. Have a great day!

Red Summer

Hey everyone! Yesterday we discussed how movies influence opinions on various racial stereotypes. We analyzed "Birth of a Nation" as an example to how African Americans were depicted in 1910s America. We then discussed the rise of the Ku Klux Klan and the Great Migration.

For homework, I gave each student a packet on a specific race riot during Red Summer of 1919. Please read through your specific riot and write a summary of your event. We will discuss in class.

Have a great day!
